Holly Baker
Grants Manager
Holly Baker (she/her) is CIEL’s Grants Manager, based on Maskoke homelands in Tallahassee, FL. She is responsible for cross-team engagement to manage grants, meet deliverables, monitor compliance, and deepen relationships with funding partners.
Holly has 25+ years’ experience working for grassroots-built, -led, and -accountable organizations. Over the last 7 years, she worked as a Resource Mobilization Strategist and Director at Climate Justice Alliance. During her time there, she contributed to substantial organizational growth (in members, staff, programming, and budget); led a team that influenced the movement of nearly $100M in new climate funding to grassroots groups; organized with environment and climate funders to influence their peers to move more money to the grassroots; co-stewarded the development of a fully grassroots-governed fund that moves money to grassroots-led climate solutions; and secured a regranting partnership with EPA to move tens of millions in public monies back to environmental justice communities.
For 19 years, she worked as the Grants Coordinator of the Farmworker Association of Florida, and for 6+ years, provided program support to the farmworker-led agroecology and cooperative development work there. She has provided leadership within the Regenerative Economies Organizing Collaborative; United Frontline Table; Southern Region of the US Food Sovereignty Alliance; Domestic Fair Trade Association; La Via Campesina North America; Southern Reparations Loan Fund; and Alabama Sustainable Agriculture Network.
Outside of work, Holly loves to hike, bike, kayak, read, garden, and chill with her dog, Ziggy, and her new grandbaby, Julius.
