Brittany Hilyer
Senior Grant Writer
Brittany Hilyer is CIEL’s Senior Grant Writer, based in Seattle, Washington. She is responsible for writing and managing content to support CIEL’s grant portfolio and advance development opportunities.
Brittany came to CIEL with a background in international development and humanitarian work, working across varied contexts on a range of global issues. Her previous experience included working in refugee resettlement in Seattle, followed by field-based positions in Iraq and Nigeria in support of landmine relief and armed violence reduction programs. Most recently, she worked on behalf of a global eye health organization focused on the prevention of avoidable blindness around the world. Her skills rest in proposal development, portfolio management, donor stewardship, and writing for diverse audiences.
Brittany holds a B.A. from University of Washington in Social Sciences and an M.S. from University of Oxford in Refugee and Forced Migration Studies.
During her free time, Brittany likes to enjoy the outdoor wonder that her home region of the Pacific Northwest has to offer by hiking, skiing, kayaking, backpacking, and swimming.
