Lani Furbank

Communications Campaign Specialist

Lani Furbank (she/her) is a Communications Campaign Specialist based in the Washington, DC office. Lani’s work focuses on using strategic communications to advance objectives of CIEL’s People, Land & Resources Program and Climate & Energy Program.

Lani joined CIEL in 2020 after five years covering food and sustainability as a freelance journalist. Her writing has been featured in publications such as The Washington Post, BuzzFeed, Eater, Food Tank, Edible, the Washington City Paper, Thrillist, and Time Out. She has also appeared as a food and lifestyle expert on CNN, Good Morning Washington, Good Day DC, and Great Day Washington. Before going freelance, Lani was the Associate Producer for Let’s Talk Live on WJLA.

Lani earned a B.A. from James Madison University in Media Arts and Design, with concentration in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Environmental Studies.
