Silvia PastorelliSilvia Pastorelli (she/her) is the EU Petrochemicals Campaigner in CIEL’s Fossil Economy program, based in Brussels. Her work focuses primarily on building strategies to stop the expansion of the petrochemical sector in the EU, or driven by EU demand, and to manage the decline of an industry that has become fossil fuel’s lifeline, while ensuring a just transition for all.

Prior to joining CIEL, Silvia worked for over 8 years for Greenpeace, most of them in the Greenpeace EU policy office. As part of her work, she focused on fossil fuels phase-out, in particular fossil gas, and on the influence on and corporate capture of EU policy-making processes by the fossil fuel industry.

She is a dedicated environmental and social justice activist and is active in Brussel’s activist groups. 

Silvia holds a Bachelor degree in International Relations and Diplomacy from the University of Trieste and a Master’s degree in European Governance from the University of Kent.

She was born in Italy and she speaks three languages (Italian, English and French), she has a good knowledge of Spanish and is learning Irish.
